About Us

More than 30 years defending the dreams of those seeking a new beginning.

Located in Miami, Florida, at Lovo & Vega, PLLC, we help families and individuals navigate the complex world of immigration law with commitment and experience.

Our story began in 1992, when attorney Mario M. Lovo—himself an immigrant from Nicaragua—founded the firm with the mission of providing legal support to those seeking a better life. His fight for the NACARA law reaffirms his commitment to the community.

In 2016, Eduardo J. Vega, son of Cuban and Argentine immigrants, joined the firm, bringing energy, empathy, and dedication to the team. Together, we have represented thousands of immigrants with humanity, professionalism, and passion.

We specialize in family-based immigration because we believe that unity is the foundation of every new life in this country.

Co-Founder & Managing Partner

The son of Cuban and Argentine immigrants, Eduardo was born in New Jersey and moved to Miami in 2008. Since 2016, he has worked alongside Mario Lovo, focusing exclusively on immigration law.

His passion stems from his family experience, and he finds his greatest satisfaction in reuniting families and seeing his clients obtain legal residency. He also participates in pro bono projects such as immigration clinics and support for vulnerable communities.

“My greatest satisfaction is the reaction of my clients when I tell them we won their case or when they receive their green card. I admire my clients’ courage and know how difficult and limiting it is to make a life in this country without documents.”

What is a Green Card, and how do I get one?

A Green Card (Lawful Permanent Residency) allows you to live and work permanently in the United States. You may be eligible through family sponsorship, employment, investment, refugee/asylee status, or other programs. Our immigration attorneys can help you determine the best path and guide you through the process.

What’s the difference between a visa and a green card?

A visa is typically temporary and allows you to enter and stay in the U.S. for a specific purpose (work, study, or travel). A green card gives you permanent resident status, with more rights and a pathway to citizenship.

How do I become a U.S. citizen?

Most people become eligible for citizenship through naturalization after being a green card holder for several years. You must meet the requirements, such as continuous residency, good moral character, display basic English language skills, and also know some U.S. history and civics.

How long does it take to bring a family member to the U.S.?

Processing times vary depending on your status (U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident), the relative’s relationship to you, and government backlogs in the Visa Bulletin. Processing times can range from months to years. We will help you navigate the process and understand how long your immigration process will take.

Can I bring my fiancé(e) to the U.S.?

Yes. A U.S. citizen can petition for a fiancé(e) visa (K-1) so their partner can come to the U.S. to get married. After marriage, the foreign spouse can apply for a green card in the United States.

What should I do if I’m in deportation proceedings?

Seek legal help immediately. You may have defenses available — such as asylum, cancellation of removal, or family petitions — but strict deadlines apply so time is of the essence to act.

Can I apply for asylum in the U.S.?

If you fear persecution in your home country based on race, religion, nationality, political opinion, or membership in a particular group, you may qualify for asylum. You must generally apply within one year of arriving in the U.S. If you believe this is your case, you must schedule a consultation as soon as possible.

What is TPS (Temporary Protected Status)?

TPS is a temporary immigration status for people from designated countries affected by conflict, natural disasters, or unsafe conditions. It allows eligible individuals to live and work legally in the U.S. during the duration of the protection. TPS can be extended for multiple years.

Can I travel while my case is pending?

It depends. Some applications allow travel with advance parole, while others do not. Traveling without proper authorization could cancel your case. Always check with an experienced immigration attorney before making travel plans.

What happens if my application is denied?

You may be able to appeal, file a motion to reopen, or apply again with stronger evidence. Our experienced immigration attorneys are prepared to evaluate your options and help you move forward.
